Maqamat of the Ottoman Court with Fikret Karakaya

Turkish musician and scholar Fikret Karakaya invites audiences into the maqamat of the Ottoman court through reconstructed historical instruments. Founder of the Bezmârâ Ensemble, Karakaya has dedicated his career to reviving Ottoman music alongside teaching, publishing, and instrument making.

Complimentary workshop:
This performance will be preceded by a “Tile Painting on Paper” workshop presented by the Herfah team. Participants will be working with Turkish patterns derived from well-known monuments in Istanbul to complement the night’s performance.

Open to ages 7 and above. Children from 7 to 12 years old may enter free of charge.
